Welcome to Jackson Elementary School - home of the Jackson Dragons! Our school's Vision and Mission are focused on nurturing success by educating the whole child and developing a solid academic foundation to ensure lifelong success and to prepare our scholars for middle school and beyond! Our school focuses on early literacy and has identified this area as a high-leverage strategy to ensure our students have the best opportunity to succeed.
We are proud to offer our students the ability to experience a differentiated core academic curriculum that meets diverse student needs and enriching opportunities to develop and foster a well-rounded student body. Jackson is proud to be one of the DSUSD schools offering a Dual Language Program in Spanish. In 2023-24, we expanded the program to 4th grade and will expand to 5th grade in the 2024-25 school year. Our STEM Lab is proud to offer students the ability to work with 3D Printers, robotics, coding, and virtual reality equipment. We implement PBIS Rewards at Jackson and strive to create and maintain positive relationships with all students on campus. The school culture at Jackson revolves around our school expectations: At Jackson, we are SAFE (protect self and others from harm), KIND (be friendly, helpful, generous, and considerate to others), RESPECTFUL (Treat others the way you/they would want to be treated), and RESPONSIBLE (Do the right thing even when no one is watching). Our school community strives to provide a safe, supportive environment and offer challenging and rigorous academic programs. Our after-school programs provide a wide variety of enrichment opportunities for our students; these programs include ELOP Clubs/Classes (i.e., Cooking/Baking class, Baile Folklorico, Photography/Yearbook Club, Garden Club, Mariachi, Soccer, and Fitness Club), ASES,
Battle of the Books, Math Field Day and so much more!
The teaching and instructional staff at Jackson is composed of highly qualified, dedicated professionals who actively engage in the professional learning community model, which provides a system for grade-level teams to share best first practices, make
data-driven decisions, plan differentiated instruction that is engaging, rigorous, and provides appropriate support for students. Our Guiding Coalition comprises grade-level representatives and support staff members, leads staff meetings and professional
development opportunities, and actively engages in program improvement work for our school. They have taken on a leadership role on our campus by developing and supporting our school’s Vision and Mission, exemplifying a growth mindset, and becoming
transformational leaders!
At Jackson, we believe in fostering effective home-to-school partnerships. We strive to have our parents, teachers, and community members actively involved in our students’ education. We provide information through Back to School Night, various parent workshops, parent information nights, DLI Family Nights, Parent/Family conferences, PTO, Tea & Coffee with Ms. Tijerina, ELAC, SSC, YouTube videos, School Messenger, School Website/ Social Media, Newsletters, Class Dojo and family events such as Winter/Spring Festivals and student performances. We encourage all parents to complete a volunteer form and get involved at
Jackson!
Andrew Jackson is committed to creating an inclusive, equitable, culturally aware, and safe school environment that supports student learning and academic success while providing a meaningful, caring, and positive experience for all our Dragon scholars. At Jackson Elementary, we are Safe, Kind, Respectful, and Responsible. Welcome to our extraordinary learning community!
